Band 7+: It is universally accepted that eating too much sugar has negative effects on people's health. Therefore, some believe that governments should control the amount of sugar people consume. Others think that it is the responsibility of an individual to control their sugar intake. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Nowadays, many people eat too much sugar, and this can cause different health problems. Some people believe that the government should control sugar consumption, while others think that people should be responsible for their own health. This essay will discuss both views.

On the one hand, the government can play an important role in reducing sugar consumption. The government can make rules for food companies to reduce the amount of sugar in their products. It can also put more tax on sugary drinks and sweets. This may make these products more expensive, so people may buy them less. In addition, the government can give information about the harmful effects of eating too much sugar through television, schools and social media.

On the other hand, individuals should also take responsibility for their diet. People can choose healthy food and avoid eating too many sweets, chocolates and sugary drinks. They can also check food labels before buying products. For example, instead of drinking soft drinks every day, people can drink water. If people know that too much sugar is bad for their health, they should try to change their eating habits.

In conclusion, both the government and individuals have responsibility for controlling sugar consumption. The government can make rules and provide information, but people should also make healthy choices in their daily lives.
