Nowadays, the way people communicate with one another has significantly changed due to rapid technology development. Although, some people believe that face to face meetings are more effective than the telephone or via internet. I partly agree with this view because both methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.
On the one hand, face to face interview is good for understanding people physical appearances along with verbal interaction. It help to know about body gesture, personal feeling, and attitudes . Furthermore, direct communication can increase trust and personal relationship. For example, during a job interview in person meetings are important to identify candidate motivation of work, honesty and hardworking attitudes. Therefore, face-to-face meetings are particularly beneficial when discussing sensitive or important issues related with important business communication.
On the other hand, meetings via internet and telephone are also effective in many situation. One of the significant advantages is that it saves money and time because the participants do not need to travel in any place. For the advent of modern technology, it is possible to communicate with the people of different countries within a short time. For example, researchers in Bangladesh can discuss about their projects with international colleagues through video conference without traveling abroad. As a result, online meetings are a convenient and cost effective option for frequent discussion and international collaboration.
In conclusion, although face to face meetings are generally more important to building personal communication and discussing complex issues, telephone and internet based meetings offer greater convenient and cost effective. I therefore believe that the most effective method depends on the purpose and circumstances of the meeting.
