Consumption of processed food has significantly increased in the past few years and has become a daily routine for everyone. This trend has several detrimental effects on society and individuals. I agree that most diseases are associated with unhealthy food containing less nutritional value.
Fast food can harm our health in various ways and can often lead to many serious diseases. In rush hours of busy life, we have range of choices available such as pizza, burgers, and fries, and the majority of fast food contains a considerable amount of sugar, spices including the preservatives, and oil, which accumulates unsaturated fat in our bodies. As a result, it causes obesity, diabetes, and other health-related issues in the long run. Some studies shows that the chemicals being used to preserve the food or frozen vegetables play vital role in declining the digestive capacity and ability of human body to generate vitamin and blood count affects.
Moreover, society became a fully dependant on ready-maid items as it saves their time and efforts of cooking. Although, it has few benefits and one can utilize their time on other tasks, it enables them to relay on other resources and lose their ability to prepare healthy food on their own. Additionally, junk food contains harmful ingredients having considerable impact on our mental health and behaviour. Around 30% of children diagnosed globally suffering from autism, delay in brain growth and anxiety due to consumption of unhygienic food by their mothers during the pregnancy.
In conclusion, I believe that despite of having few benefits of processed food, it has various negative effects on people and society.
