Nowadays, with the advent of new technologies and electronic devices, there are smaller amount of schools where are required to learn and enhance childrens’ handwriting. I tend to believe that this part is important, but this topic has both merits and demerits and we will examine them further this essay.
Initially, with the variety of different programs, phones, laptops and smart tables, it is easier and faster to make some notes there without writing. For instance, there are two well-known websites with artificial intilligence, namely Chat GPT and Gemini, that can enable to summarise the information and make some important highlits without human’s intervention. Afterwards, kids can just print it and learn without spending time on the previous preparation of these papers. However, modern devices have added the opportunity not to spend a huge amount of time in libraries with rewriting essencial points of the subjects, that need to be learned, from books. Everyone can find nearly all the information in the Internet and open it on the phone or laptop. All this points can save time and give more place for another tasks.
Conversely, handwriting is vital part of the developing of children’s brain. New neurons are formated, while we are learning to do this activity. Furthermore, there are also some types of people’s memory, when it is easier to remember, while you are writing by your hand. For example, there are some scientifical articles that confim that kids, who had learned to make some notes by themselves on the paper, have better intilligence and long-lasting memory. If we skipped this main part of our education, it would give as inevitable side effect in the future.
In conclusion, although there is opportunity to escape handwriting in modern schools, it would worsen our brain functioning. I belive that the drawnbacks pale in comparison to the long-term benefits.
