Some people suggested that learning a musical instrument plays an important role as read and write skills for all children. In my opinion, the ability of the former is less worthwhile than the latter ability.
Reading and writing are so necessary to us humans, particularly children because both of these abilities are the basis of them, they have to read and write correctly before learning another skill. A child, if he wants to have a well-paid job, which he needs to pay bills, he has to make sure that he can do these abilities because almost employers recruit employees at least know it to accomplish deadlines. For example, Ho Chi Minh, who was president in Viet Nam, did not know anything about musical instruments, however he still found ways to save Viet Nam from enemies. I mean, knowing nothing about instruments of music still have a good life, however only few people focusing on these stuff can live well with an advanced life.
I believe that letting children learn an instrument of music is good for them because when they are learned this stuff or a few children have talented music, which can help them not only improve to cognitive, but also express their emotions.
In conclusion, learning a musical instrument is crucial for children, however, to me, it is not as important as read and write abilities. All children have to study reading and writing first, before learning skills else.
