Some individuals believe that the influence of teachers in children’s education performance and social development is more crucial than parents have. In this essay I will examine both camps and clarify why I am more inclined to disagree with this view.
Admittedly, one might argue that teachers are knowledge providers. This argument holds merit, as they equip children with fundamental subject knowledge such as literacy, mathematics and history. This equipment helps children develop critical thinking and essential knowledge that are needed for their future development. However, this line of reasoning fails to mention the fact that parents also play a vital role in their kids’ development. Given that they are not only the caregiver but also the role models for their upbringings, they teach essential values such as honesty, kindness and responsibility. As a result, they form a solid foundation of morality, which contributes positively to children’s personal development.
Those supporting the role of teachers on children’s academic and social development also emphasize that they help kids to improve social skills. This perspective carries some weight, as in classrooms, educators offer them opportunities to interact and work together with other peers through teamwork activities, which help them learn communication skills. With this supportive environment, children are more likely to express themselves freely and improve necessary abilities such as team leader and problem-solving. Nevertheless, this assertion overlooks the emotional support of parents. If they provide encouragement and understanding, children tend to build self-confidence and resilience when facing challenges. This strong emotional foundation not only enhances their academic performance but also improves their ability to interact positively with others in society.
In conclusion, although the role of teachers in developing children’s intelligence and social ability is crucial, I strongly believe that parents have the same influence as they create role models and emotional support for children. Additionally, I think that to rear a kid effectively, both parents and teachers should work together to navigate children’s career and improve academic performance.
