Modern world is heavily dependent on non-renewable sources of energy. Despite that, society is following trajectory where fossil fuels will be fully drained. This essay will discuss how we can preserve natural resources from exhaustion by using our vehicles less and it will highlight untapped potential of tidal power.
Protecting fossil fuels from depleting is a responsibility of every individual which can be achieved by changing our transportation habits. If everyone used less transport that creates carbon fumes, it would preserve our environment from excessive exhaust fumes generation. Whenever my friends and I are getting together for a coffee we chose a cafe which is in everyone’s walking distance. By doing that, we are not sacrificing our comfort that much, thereby avoiding creation of carbon emissions.
The majority of countries already have some proportion of their energy generated by natural forces of energy. However, tides are the one that can become a game-changer in an energy production. The prime example of this is the United Kingdom. The recent research shows that more than 20% of the total energy consumption in some regions was covered purely by tides. If the UK had mainly focused on tidal energy generation, they wouldn’t have used fossil fuels whatsoever. Despite that, the processes to replace fossil fuels with tidal power have already launched, and they are predicted to replace fossil fuels by the end of 2030s.
In conclusion, natural resources are essential for the proper functioning of modern world, since they are widely used for electricity and petrol production, thus bringing closer a day when all natural resources will be drained. However, to avoid that, people have to use transport less frequently, and harnessing tidal source of energy more actively.
