This is mainly due to social platforms, which provide the audience with the opportunity to see many influencers and other fashion designs. However, I believe that this is a negative development because it leads to the loss of national costumes.
I assume that the internet is playing a crucial role in the globalization of fashion. More and more people, especially famous artists, are now posting themselves on the internet wearing a specific type of clothes. Not only does this information spread very quickly now, but it also reaches every corner of the world easily, becoming a trend internationally. Now, there are a lot of famous people who are considered icons by the public, affecting people’s clothing behavior. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most famous football players in the world, with 650 million subscribers following him on social media, is considered an idol for millions of people; obviously, when he shows up on the internet wearing some type of clothing, it will spread like a pandemic.
I firmly believe that this development will not lead us to better. Indeed, it has more negative sides than positive ones. In the online era, trending stuff is easily overshadowing the traditions of nationalities. People now wear traditional clothes only in customary events, and this results in the vanishing of orthodox dresses day by day. Consequently, nationalities are losing their uniqueness: they are becoming unaware of who they are. I think that this is not a good sign for the future of such a nation, ultimately resulting in the erosion of its identity.
In conclusion, although global fashion trends have become increasingly popular due to technological advancements, I believe this is a negative development, as it gradually leads to the loss of cultural identity and traditions.
