There are both pros and cons for the current state of the globalising world. Globalisation has positive aspects due to how it improves economies of countries, and negative factors since it plays a significant role in the erasure of local cultures. In my opinion, globalisation has equal advantages and disadvantages.
On the one hand, I agree that globalisation is beneficial because it helps foster a healthier and stronger economy within a state. This process is one of interconnectedness and removal of barriers among countries and businesses. Therefore, companies are able to establish themselves internationally in a more linear fashion which benefits both the parent country of the firm and the foreign market it invests in. For example, Amazon is able to ship their deliveries across the world with little to no restrictions from governments of globalised countries, which aids in creating the competitiveness in national markets that economic advancements require.
On the other hand, I believe that globalisation is not without flaws in view of how barriers being removed between cultures, allowing them to intermix, erases traditional customs of local populations. Local cultures are an important aspect of any country as it defines the identity of its nationals and helps in keeping its sovereignty, since it establishes unique markers of what makes it a separate nation. In instance, Europe has developed a single cultural format of its identity, removing most unique aspects of each country’s customs, as a result of globalisation.
To conclude, I reckon that globalisation is a process that carries with it distinct benefits, such as economic development, and drawbacks, being the loss of culture, of similar value.
