Many believe that the government should invest money in public services instead of sports. Personally, I completely disagree.
Firstly, sport was always a part of our lives. However, not in the way we know it today. Ancient Greeks, for instance, created the Olympics in order to demonstrate a power that lived in their bodies. They were willing to illustrate what a human was able to do, while being pushed to their limits. Despite the fact of being creators of the most popular and significant sport game, Greeks are known as intelligence of their time. They were one of the first nations to educate their people. Greek philosophy studies are still the ones, that are taught in a vast majority of the educational institutions around the globe. And all of this happened, while the government was investing in sports. Therefore, it is possible to combine sport and sociology. The key is a balance. It is unreasonable, to spend millions of euros on one thing only.
Secondly, sport is not only about a physical shape anymore, it is also about politics. Almost every country wants to have an imidge of a healthy nation and is ready to spend a fortune to secure this position. Meanwhile there are a lot of countries, the prime example would be the US Olympics team, that blew out the internet and benefited its country in a lot of ways. Americans felt a wave of patriotism, which made them feel united, whereas the outsiders saw how impressive Americans athletes are.
In conclusion, although public services are extremely important, sport was and will be the fact that distinguishes the nation. It can show how great the country is and help its economy by encouraging foreigners to come and see not only its athletes, but also a lifestyle and the mentioned infrastructure.
