Band 4+: Governments should be responsible for funding and controlling scientific research rather than private organizations. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Scientific research should be the main priority for the country due to the amount of benefits it has. Whether or not the country’s government should be responsible or the private organisations, totally depends upon that country being communist or capitalists.

If the government takes upon itself to be responsible for scientific research then it is beneficial as the burden of fundings will not be upon an individual alone, rather the whole country would be contributing towards the scientific research department. It is a good idea because most of the time the private organisations go into bankruptcy which results in closing of the research centers but that is not the case with the government, even if the research department gets inactive that would only be for a temporary period.

However, I think the private organisations should take control over the scientific research and should be responsible for the fundings because the government changes its policies most of the time or at least every four years which results in the constant change in the scientific research department as it gets less fundings sometimes or not even a penny. The private organizations controlling the research department is a much better idea as they will solely focus on one goal and there will be less amount of money wasted. In countries like America or the UK, the governments are not that strong, instead the citizens are as they earn more money as much as in billions which makes them suitable for such fundings.

To conclude this, the private organisations should take up the responsibility due to the amount of money they have which is better for fundings and the government is already looking after other matters of the country so it will only cause more distractions.
