There is no doubt that the consumption of gas is on the rise these days, which has detrimental effects on the environment. Therefore, some people call for increasing the cost of gas. I vehemently disagree with this opinion, as it is totally unpractical and there are many feasible solutions to this issue.
First, increasing the prices of petrol will burden citizens financially. Therefore, there will be a case of unrest and rebellion all over the countries. This will pose a threat to governments, as many protests can occur. For example, many protests happened in Egypt due to the increasing prices of gas. Moreover, when the cost of gas goes up, other essential products will be more expensive for people.
There are other practical solutions to this problem. For instance, governments should raise people’s awareness about the harm caused by depending on fuel through TV and other social media websites. In addition, governments should promote the use of ec0-friendly vehicles like electric cars and electric motor- cycles. China set an exemplary situation, as it has reduced its use of gas by 50%, which in turn led to a noticeable decrease in the amount of pollution in the country. Furthermore, countries can encourage its citizens to use public transport by reducing their prices such as, the subway or even cycles as a way to reduce reliance on gas.
In conclusion, the use of gas is really harmful for nature, and governments should take serious actions by educating their people about the necessity of cutting the use of gas and resorting to other solutions, like replacing old cars with electric ones and motivating the masses to utilize public transportation.
