In the recent world, the promotion of unhealthy products is increasingly prevalent on a global scale, especially foods and drinks, leading to severe consequences for people’s health. Some individuals argue that the growing consumption of harmful foods contributes directly to such phenomenal and the advertisements of unhealthy foods should be banned because they are the primary cause of this growth. At the same time, others believe that governments should not prohibit the promotion of foods like sweets and soft drinks. Personally, I believe that the forbiddance of commercial displays is insufficient and problematic. The main reasons for my perspective will be provided in the following paragraphs.
To start with, the constraint of unhealthy foods advertisements may significantly affects the country’s economy. Due to the decreased exposure to customers, brands like Pepsi-Cola, McDonalds, etc might encounter a decline in sales, leading to less income from taxes for the governments and affecting the economical growth of the country. As a result, employees might face the reduction of job vacancy and companies will suffer from serious financial issues that might lead to bankruptcy.
In addition, the ban of harmful foods promotions is believed to be inadequate. Most of the brands and merches have already receive great recognition from local customers. Therefore, they will continue to consume unhealthy foods without the influence of advertisements, causing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and diabetes. To address this problem, imparting the importance of healthy eating habits at schools and promoting a more sustainable lifestyle will have greater impacts on the society than the restriction of commercial displays.
To conclude, forbidding the advertisements of unhealthy foods is insufficient as it cannot prevent individuals from health problems and proven to be detrimental for adversely impacting the economical growth. Therefore, other methods to help people avoid illnesses like education are also suggested to overcome this challenge and promote the life of residents and their future.
