It is an irrefutable fact that healthcare budget is increasing rapidly due to the advancement in technologies and the amenities which are being provided in hospitals and clinic. Thus, a main question arises that is it a government duty to provide citizens free healthcare or the citizens themselves are responsible?. Let’s take a look into the matter.
To begin with, it is a fact the health insurance and good medical facilities charge high in terms of money, and generally not affordable by people living on edge of poverty line. Even if they buy these insurances they will either be deceived or will not be properly benefited due lack of knowledge. Not only poor but also lower middle class people are facing same issues.
Furthermore, citizens can’t be solely responsible for their health, cause it is not in their own hand. Nowadays, even small hospitals are charging huge amount as patient admission fees. If these things continue to persist, it will surely deteriorate the financial condition of the people.
On other hand, government should give some relaxation either by providing subsidies or by starting some schemes for those who can’t afford the healthcare costs. They should be strict with the guidelines, so these insurance companies have no choice rather than following it. They should organise weekly or monthly body check-up camps, for the people who can’t afford.
To conclude that, I opine that it not only the citizens who are responsible to pay such huge amount in healthcare even government should make some contribution. On other hand, it does not make sense that government is paying for each and everyone healthcare. Thus, both government and people should work together to balance the healthcare budget.
