Music is an art made by humans that combines either vocal or instrumental sounds, sometimes both, using form, harmony, and expression of emotion to convey an idea. Music represents many different forms that play key factors in cultures around the world. Music has long served the dual purpose of entertainment and communication. There are many types of music – rock, pop music, jazz, heavy metal, disco and etc.
Considering all this, why we humans need some music in our life? There is many anwsers for that: Emotional expression is simply the acknowledgement of these emotions we are built to feel; music elevates mood. Music can boost the brain’s production of the hormone dopamine; music creates social cohesion, it speaks to all when words can fail, and wherever you go in the world, it is understood.
There is two more things about music that can be said. Music also can be decided by two types, music of a country and international music. Music of a country is often called “folk songs”, are learned informally, within the context of family, tribe, community, or another close-knit group, and international music often called “world music”, it’s a music that combines elements from traditional styles from the non-Western world along with modern, popular elements, in order to create something marketed towards Western audiences. For various reasons, music is considered an indispensable component of human societies. In my humble opinion, traditional music holds greater significance than the universally popular, yet contemporary, music that is prevalent today because of it’s significants to their country and the story behind it.
