Nowadays teleworking is more preferable than working in an office for many people via modern technologies. However, it is considered that working from home only gives benefits to employees, not employers. I partially agree that it brings merits to only one of them.
The key for workers is work-life balance which can be achieved through teleworking. There are several advantages when an employee work remotely from home. In the first place, they can save their time efficiently as they do not have to spend most of their time on commuting. In that case, it is preferable to stay at home and then start working without any distractions or some issues. For example, they may face traffic jams or other technical issues with a vehicle while commuting, which result in stress and lower productivity. Other than that, home-based workers have a chance to arrange their working time flexibly. For instance, if they have some health or personal or domestic problems, they can handle own issues earlier, then start working via modern devices. As a result, workers can even engage in local community services with neighbours, relieving the daily stress.
Teleworking brings merits to not only workers, but also employers and companies. Firstly, companies or employers do not have to occupy a huge workplace which demands a rental cost, taxes or other utilisation expenses. As employees work at their home using state-of-the-art technologies, there is no need for space utilisation. Another advantage is to reduce absenteeism which is employers’ duty to monitor. It is obvious that employees experience health issues or personal problems. For instance, their vehicles to travel from home to work malfunction or do not work in a day, they may struggle to go on time or they even cannot go to a workplace.
In conclusion, teleworking do not only beneficial to employees, but aslo to employers.
