Over the last few decades, thanks to far-reaching breakthroughs in the transportation industry, globalization has accelerated all over the world in comparison with the past. Some believe these kinds of phenomena can lead cultural identity to fade. I completely disagree with this statement and I will present my reasons.
To begin with, increasing the rate of globalization can have positive effects on cultural identity by ubiquitous attendance of local commodities in the majority of world countries. This is because since these merchandises are imported to different countries, many people become acquainted with indigenous cultures inevitably and unconsciously. As a result, not only the unique identity of a culture does not fade, but also by means of introducing its local products to other countries its cultural values are maintained.
Furthermore, the importance of the movie industry in sustaining cultural identity of countries should not be undertaken. To elaborate more, thanks to globalization the preponderance of people has access to movies by means of tablets and smartphones. Over the last decades, people’s tendency for watching series and films has enhanced compared to the past years, and it can be considered as a valuable asset for reinforcing the cultural identity of local countries because many of ceremonies, traditions, and heritages can be transferred by movie to the next generations and foreigners.
In conclusion, while some deem globalization as a detrimental factor in conserving cultural identity, I believe it plays a positive role in keeping a unique identity of a culture.
