Currently, there is a controversial argument whether workers in a company are all expected to earn the same wage to promote harmony and cooperation, even though they are in different positions. I totally disagree with this notion because it could lead to lack of determination among workers, and this will promote inequality in the company. The following paragraphs will highlight my opinion along with relevant examples.
The main reason why I believe that all the employees ought to not have the same amount of salaries is due to the fact that in a company there are many different employees with varieties of educational background. Consequently, if all the employees received the same amount of earnings regardless of their experience or qualification, this may lead to employee dissatisfaction. For instance, some employees put a huge amount of effort into graduating from Harvard University, meanwhile some might not even have a bachelor degree. Hence, employees with higher levels of qualifications will not be motivated to work as much, due to their efforts not being rewarded.
Another reason why I don’t support the opinion that everyone should gain the same amount of salary is that inequality and disfavour will happen in the company. This will lead to some workers refusing to cooperate with others, which will worsen the work atmosphere and affect the overall efficiency and productivity of the company. For instance, this employee is always motivated to work; however, he is being paid at the same rate as an inactive employee, and causes him to be more and more demotivated to work as his efforts are not acknowledged.
In conclusion, I absolutely disagree with the idea that all employees should receive the same earnings despite their efforts or qualifications. Therefore, organisations should consider individuals’ performance to be able to pay them fairly.
