Some people think that if a product is good enough and satisfies the customer than advertising is unnecessary. I partly agree with this view. I think that it is a matter of popularity whether such a product will be successful. This essay will discuss the aspects I agree and disagree with.
Customers of a supermarket often walk around the store, searching for new products to try out. People sometimes get bored of consuming same foods, which leads them to search for something new. Searching, they find a new product, which they consume, and if it meets their criteria, they might add it to their daily groceries list. For example, one of Georgia’s supermarket’s energy drink “Energy” does not have an advertisement, but it is one of the most popular energy drinks among teenagers due to its taste and cheap price. Despite not having an advertisement, the quality and the price makes it one of the most successful drinks in Georgia.
Although Customers might find new products in the supermarkets, this logic does not apply to the products that are not present in the supermarkets. A product that is not present in the supermarket can not be found as easily as in a place where people go almost every day. This results in an unpopular product, even though it can have a good quality. For example, family businesses that do not have the finances for the advertisements often do not get the attention and the customers, even though their product can be homemade and natural. Such products can only be advertised by customers that share information about the business which results in an unreliable business model.
To sum up, I think for a product to be popular, the quality is not the only deciding factor. If the product is not advertised and not present in the area where people go to everyday and see it, it does not receive enough attention for it to be successful.
