Band 9: In both education and employment some people tend to work harder than others . Why do you think that is the case? Is it always good to work hard

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is often said that hard work is the key to success. In both education and employment, some individuals tend to work much harder than others. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this trend and explain why I believe pushing oneself beyond limit is not always beneficial.

To begin with, one major reason people work harder is the intense competition that exists in modern society. Students often have to study for long hours to secure admission to prestigious universities or obtain scholarships. For example, competitive examinations such as NEET and UPSC Civil Services Examinations require candidates to outperform thousands of applicants for a limited number of seats. Similarly, employees frequently work overtime to gain promotions or maintain job security in highly competitive industry. Another important reason is financial and family responsibilities. Many individuals are the sole earners in their families and must work extra hours to cover household expenses, educational costs, and medical bills.

However, I do not believe that working beyond capacity is always a positive practice. Excessive work can lead to serious physical and mental problems such as stress, anxiety, and sleep deprivation. People who constantly study late at night or work long shifts often experience burnout and reduced productivity. Furthermore, overworking can disrupt personal relationships. Employees who spend most of their time at work may fail to maintain strong bonds with their family members.

In conclusion, people often work harder because of competition and financial obligations, but excessive hard work can damage health and personal life. Therefore, maintaining a balanced lifestyle is essential for long-term success.

In my opinion, although some people may naturally be more creative than others, creativity can still be improved over time. […]
