Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 7+: In many cities, problems related to overpopulation are becoming more common. Some governments are now encouraging businesses and individuals to move out of cities to rural areas. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the main problem is the rapid increase in the world’s population. Many governments offer sustainable measures, such as supporting businesses and people to relocate from urban to rural areas. There are many positive side effects, such as a decrease in unemployment and traffic, while the main disadvantage is social isolation.

First of all, the main advantage of moving people from cities to rural areas is the reduction in unemployment in the country. The government open new job markets, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and the environment. Additionally, this affects local economies and reduces the percentage of unemployment. Moreover, with new initiative and industrial sectors improved by the government in rural areas, people’s chances of finding a job will dramatically increase. For example, the Brazilian government is applying state programs, about people moving out of cities to rural areas, as a result, the government offers new homes and jobs to families. The second advantage is related to the sharp decrease in traffic congestion in the country. Traffic is the main problem in overpopulated cities. In contrast, compared to cities, traffic is freer in rural areas and the roads are empty. As a result, as rural migration reduces the number of people in cities, traffic flow also decreases, leading to a reduction in both traffic jams and air pollution.

On the other hand, one potential disadvantage is social isolation. Compared to rural areas, city life is dynamic and unpredictable. For example, museums, theaters, and other social activities are widespread in cities. In rural areas, however, the number of such places is limited, and people’s social lives are largely confined to the rural community. As a result, people accustomed to city life may find it difficult to establish new relationships in rural areas, alienated from the more dynamic and active social environment.

In conclusion, while there are some disadvantages, the advantages of moving from cities to rural areas are more significant.
