In many parts of the world, the number of people using public transport is witnessing a rise, while the usage of private vehicles is experiencing a decline. It happens predominantly due to high costs of car ownership and traffic congestion. I believe that it is a positive trend.
One of the reasons is that an excessive amount of private cars leads to severe traffic congestion. However, in most countries, there are bus lanes on the roads, so unlike car owners, individuals using public transport experience faster travel times compared to car owners. Another reason is that owning a car requires a considerable amount of money, as cars’ parts are expensive and should be monitored regularly. For instance, in my country, car owners should spend at least 200 dollars every month just for fuel, whereas the monthly usage fee for buses or metros is approximately 50 or 60 dollars.
From my perspective, the increasing use of public transport is a positive trend, as it is environmentally friendly. The more people choose public transport, the less pressure there is on the roads. Moreover, many countries are investing in electric vehicles, such as eco-friendly buses, which contribute to reducing air pollution. For example, Tokyo, which has a well-developed public transport system, has significantly lower pollution levels compared to many other cities.
In summary, people prefer public transport more due to financial savings and traffic jams. I suggest that it is a positive improvement, as it is more eco-friendly and contributes to a cleaner environment.
