In some regions people are out of control about how there house is built. While building a house on your own expenses could be expensive, i believe it can eliminate the problem of having a house that is not according to your own needs.
To elaborate, there are experienced developers who formulate the plan for the construction of houses in a block. They calculate every cost, so the price does not exceed a certain level and it is in the budget of a middle classs family. For example, construction developers calculate things like the cost of brick, or the concrete that would be required. They approach the desginers that can produce cheap designs. A common man cannot possibly go through this procedure, so it saves the cost. Because of this saved cost houses become accesible to those who could not afford it previously. Despite this, people are not satisfied with these kind of desgins because it is not according to their needs, so they are forced to live in a house they are not comfortable living in.
To add to it, this permission allows them to select the layout of their house, and the material there house will be made up of such as wood or bricks. If they did not like a certain material, they would be able to avoid it. This would not have been possible if someone else selected these things for them. Because of this permission these people are able to avoid long term renovation costs. For instance, if someone is interested in gardening, he would be able to construct a garden for himself. If this person was not allowed this permission, he would not be able to follow his passion. This freedom is worth the expensive investment they had to undertake.
To conclude, the advantages of constructing a house without any intervention far outweighs any disadvantages.
