Childhood obesity is a rising problem globally. Although obesity refers to a physical hazard, it can also affect mental health. To prevent this problem, individuals and governments can provide counseling on healthy diets and enable more chances to practice physical activities.
In countries such as America, Canada, England, and Australia, children are widely exposed to junk food from a very early stage of their lives. Constant consumption of these foods can immensely affect their bodies as the fat restoration level increases. It can lead to various health problems. For instance, a child who intakes fast food regularly will face the bodily consequences of heartburn, bloated stomach, stomachache, nausea, and, most significantly, weight gain. These can lead to major heart problems as well as obesity. As a prevention, guardians must help children with their diets. They have to help make a habit of consuming more fiber and nutrients by eating vegetables. The government can introduce TV shows to provide motivation and explain the positive and negative side effects of obesity.
On another note, a great way to tackle obesity is by practicing physical activities such as sports, dance, yoga, etc. In this generation, children are prone to avoiding activities that require movement. Without having proper physical stimulation, children will suffer both mentally and physically. So, as elders, it is our job to make sure our kids have an adequate amount of bodily movement. We should encourage them to join sports clubs and dance classes or anywhere of that sort. In countries like India and Bangladesh, there is not much scope to practice physical activities. Thus, the authorities can also contribute by publicizing and organizing various sports events that offer prizes, by which children can get motivated to indulge in sports.
Obesity is a great danger to a child’s life. It takes away our peace and the joy of experiencing life as we move along. We, as individuals and as the structure of a nation, must take care of our next generation by being fit and encouraging fitness. We should take advantage of the help provided by the government and ask for better regulations if needed to reduce the global obesity rate.
