The increasing presence of juvenile delinquency has become a common concern in numerous countries. This essay hereby aims to delve deeper into the underlying reasons for this tendency and propose viable punishments that should be imposed to address the issue.
There are two major causes contributing to the proliferation of children and teenagers engaging in illegal activities. First and foremost, the current economic growth has led to the rising cost of living, which pushes parents to work excessively to make ends meet, thereby resulting in parental negligence. Since children’s moral awareness has not fully developed, the deficiency of family care could cause them to be tempted to commit wrongdoing, such as pickpocketing and shoplifting. Not to mention that the rapid economic development has also widened the wealth gap, resulting in the rising number of impoverished families. Underprivileged teenagers, who possess a better cognition than children, are easily encouraged in criminal conduct with the intention of escaping financial strains.
In my perspective, governments can implement two ways of sanctioning delinquent children and adolescents. Firstly, by introducing tightened monitoring programs, governments can mitigate the likelihood of juvenile offenses. As these programs provide early detection and intervention, governments are enabled to tackle potential problems before they escalate into criminal behaviors. Additionally, governments can collaborate with non-profit organizations to educate those juveniles about laws and ethics and simultaneously offer needy teenagers financial aid to alleviate their monetary difficulties. This proactive approach ensures that children are well-educated and well-nourished, hence paving the way for them to be good inhabitants and contribute positively to communities.
In summary, the rising emergence of juvenile delinquency substantially stems from parental neglect and budget constraints, which can be addressed by the government. Those aforementioned measures are indeed beneficial to foster a safer and more cooperative society.
