In the era of modernity, the health of juveniles has been a topic of debate. Plethora of people believe that children’s weight and health are responsibility of the government. This essay will discuss why it is not.
On one hand, it is essential to understand that parents have a great impact on their kids’ well-being, because adolescents are developmentally immature and do not know the implications of their action. Consequently, parents should monitor their diet each day and decrease the amount of saturated fat, harmful sugars and junk food they consume, which can lead to devastating consequences on their mass and overall health. A daily well-planned schedule for their dietary choices should be imposed. For instance, American ministry of health reported in 2018 that 89% of obesity and poor dietary habits cases were noticed in orphaned kids.
On the other hand, schools teachers’ and principles’ also have a major influence on students’ choices. Providing daily lessons about sugary beverages and food must be taught to students to enhance their mindset about these items’ negative effects and how to decrease their consumption. Moreover, decreasing availability of harmful canteen products, and increasing their prices would encourage children to avoid them, such as soda cans, chips, doughnuts and biscuits. To illustrate, Amman’s private educational centers saw a significant decrease in sweet items consumption after imposing a 20% of tax and placing a warning stickers on them.
In conclusion, I firmly disagree with the claim that the government is to blame for teenagers’ weight issues, but it is the joint responsibility of their parents and schools to make a shift in their mindset and enhance their future habits.
