Nowadays, in the majority of countries shopping has become the most famous leisure pursuit among teenagers. While there are several factors contributing to this trend, I believe this is largely a negative development.

There are several reasons why shopping has become such a popular pastime among young adults. First of all, social media such as Instagram, Tik tok and similar platforms have grown rapidly. Through these platforms, influencers constantly promote new products and fashion trends which encourages young adults to buy more frequently. Moreover, modern shopping malls offer a wide range of entertainment facilities and opportunities for relaxation. For instance, visitors can access free Wi-Fi, dine at various restaurants and enjoy adrenaline activities such as zip-line playgrounds.

Despite its popularity, I strongly believe that this trend has several detrimental effects on young adults. This habit often leads to financial irresponsibility, as many young adults spend beyond their means and accumulate significant debt. Therefore, when shopping replaces more useful leisure activities such as reading, cooking or physical exercise, it ultimately has a negative impact on both individual well-being and the broader society.

To sum up, shopping has become a popular pastime among young adults due to social media influence and modern shopping malls. However, I firmly believe this is a negative development, as it replaces more meaningful activities.
