In the present era, supermarkets in many countries offer a wide range of food products imported from all over the world. I believe this is largely a positive phenomenon, particularly for international workers and students who live far from their homeland. However, buying cuisine from local markets has significant benefits,; they also bring some drawbacks in that products might not be fresh enough.
One clear advantage of this trend is that the food development enhances individuals’ lives. Having access to international cuisine enables people who live abroad to enjoy the flavors of their homeland, which helps them without worrying about tasting unknown items that they do not have any information about. Furthermore, when individuals can experience a wide variety of dishes and special flavors from other nations, it can lead them to research the country’s culture more. For instance, people can easily try Turkish desserts by visiting their nearby local stores.
However, despite some benefits, there are several concerns as well. One of the main disadvantages is that imported goods often travel long distances before reaching supermarket shelves. As a result, the content of nutritious food may be harvested earlier than usual and sorted for a long period of time. When food needs to be preserved for a duration, it may require the use of chemicals, which can lead to noticeable loss of freshness and natural flavor.
In conclusion, although providing food from around the world at markets gives customers more choices and helps people who live far from their home country, is also creates some concerns about natural flavor and quality. From my perspective, the advantages are stronger than the disadvantages.
