In many nations individuals live a longer life, it is viewed by some people as an issue for the people and their community, in contrast, some people see this as a blessing for the society because the elders can still contribute towards their society in various ways and keep the economy stable.
Firstly, as the person gets older their body changes, and generally elder people are more prone to different health issues such as heart disease, dementia, and muscle injuries. Hence, they can increase the burden on healthcare system and limit access to medical care for younger adults and children. Furthermore, most of the retired people are dependent on government pension schemes and healthcare plans that can take substantial portion from governments budget. This can reduce the nations spending on education and infrastructure.
In contrast to this argument, elders can still play their part by showing the right path to the youth of their nation because they have gained valuable experiences during their working periods which they can transfer to the new generation to give them head start in their careers. Moreover, some professionals can continue to add value to their society even after their retirement, for instance, teachers keep sharing their knowledge by providing tuitions to new students and some healthcare experts continue their research and practice to support the coming generations.
To conclude, although the elders can suffer from health disorders more commonly and increase load on medical system. But, they remain an integral part of the society and contribute their knowledge and expertise to further strengthen the future of their country.
