In this contemporary era, it has become increasingly common for individuals to live longer compared to the average lifespan in the past. Although an extended lifespan can have the very merit that individuals may achieve their goals or accomplishments, i believe there is more prominent demerit that could hinder the development of countries and it might overshadow its merit.
Living for an extended period can offer humans a significant advantage. Primarily, it allows them to pursue and achieve their aims. With increased longevity, individuals have more time to develop expertise in their fields, enabling them to accomplish their aspirations. As a consequence, this can be highly beneficial for individuals and society as a whole
The disadvantage of a prolonged lifespan should be taken into account too. One significant concern is the damage to the economy of the countries. As people reside longer, issues such as overpopulation may arise, leading to by far the largest amount of the demand for economic resources. For example, there is the overwhelming majority of humans in India as a result of which this state is considered as one of the underdeveloped nation. Therefore, ageing population can creat such kind of matter for the governments.
To conclute, while longevity may present the benefit such as personal milestones, the drawback including economic strains on the governments are far fundamental. Therefore, the downside of having an ageing population take precedence over the benefit.
