In most countries, plastic shopping bags are the main source of land and water contamination and rubbish too. So, their use ought to be restricted. To what extent do you believe it is a good initiative to reduce pollution? Pollution is basically considered as one the major problem on Earth, as it is resulting in various disasters. In my point of view, a complete ban should be implemented on the use of plastic bags with immediate effect.
To begin with, let us discuss the effect of plastic on aquatic life. It is contaminating water and so, creatures residing in the oceans are disturbed by the dirty water. Furthermore, these creatures are also source of food for us, which is further resulting in hazardous effects on human health. Additionally, drinking water is also being poisoned as plastic thrown into it requires millions of years to dissolve or we can say it is nearly impossible to dissolve. So, I completely agree to implement complete restriction on use of plastic bags and alternate source should be considered. For instance, paper bags should be used instead of plastic ones, as they are more environmental friendly. The users of paper bags should be encouraged by the marts by offering them discounts.
Moreover, traditional bags are affecting the fertility of soil and the quality of vegetables too. As a result, these factors are resulting in poor effects on our health and national economy too. Land erosion is one of major problem faced by farmers which is solely caused by these non recyclable bags. For example, plastic bags are never mixed in soil particles which further leads to contamination of the soil.
In conclusion, considering the above mentioned effects of these bags, it is better to implement a complete ban on these. In order to make Earth, a better place to live in the upcoming future alternates of plastic should be considered.
