In the majority of countries, the rulers are keeping the economic state in the first place, while other fields are considered less significant. This essay claims that citizens’ quality of life will improve, but the main downside is that the environment can be damaged.
On the positive side, economic growth will make citizens’ lives dramatically better. This is because the economy contributes to a country’s infrastructure, employment, technological advancements, and overall people’s wealth. In other words, the better the economic state of the country, the happier the citizens. For example, if the country sells minerals like gold or coal, it will create new job opportunities and thus make individuals wealthier.
However, excessive concentration on economic growth will result in environmental aggravation. This is because considerable amounts of income always come from polluting fabrics or other unclear sources. In other words, it will contaminate the air in order to earn money. Hence, the percentage of health issues will rise, and citizens will be vulnerable to a range of diseases. For instance, the certain fabrics discarded waste into the river “Minamata,” and consequently, it led to a plethora of deaths.
In conclusion, while the economic rise sacrifices environmental safety for additional income, it drastically increases citizens’ quality of life.
