In many countries, the number of animals and plants is declining. This has become a significant problem for society. There are several reasons behind this decline, such as the increasing demand for new land and the use of trees as industrial resources. I believe that re-cultivating abandoned areas and constructing skyscrapers can help address this issue.
One of the main causes of this problem is the rapidly growing population, which increases the need for new areas for housing and food production. For example, in Tashkent, the capital of my country, the city area has doubled over the last decade, often at the expense of forests, to accommodate the rising number of residents. This expansion has led to the extinction of many plants and animals. Another contributing factor is the deforestation caused by the construction industry. Trees are widely used for building materials, such as furniture and flooring, and entire houses are sometimes constructed from wood. As a result, the construction industry has become a significant consumer of timber.
Fortunately, there are solutions to this problem. One viable solution is to re-cultivate abandoned areas, such as deserts. Today, one-third of the Earth’s land is desert. If people begin improving soil conditions by planting vegetation suitable for the local environment and ensuring water supply, these efforts could lead to the growth of new wildlife species. For example, my country has taken action to address the environmental challenges of the Aral Sea, contributing to the diversity of flora and fauna in the desert. Another solution is to erect more high-rise buildings. Skyscrapers can house hundreds of families in one structure, thereby helping to conserve land.
In conclusion, the decline in the number of animal and plant species is driven by the demand for new land and the exploitation of forests by the construction industry. However, re-cultivating abandoned areas and building skyscrapers could help tackle this problem.
