Families ate meals together for centuries, but recently, this old tradition has become less popular, especially in urbanized areas. I believe this is the result of the growing trend of isolation and this will lead to antisocial behavior as well as decline of social bond between family members.
As the contemporary society grows, people gain individual access to goods and services they used to share in the past. Consequently, there will be less shared experiences among them, which leads to individualizem, and the same is ture for families. Households that used to have limited rooms and equipment now have personal rooms and items for every person, so everyone is living in isolated areas under one roof. For instance, in the past family members used to gather around the television to watch shows and bond over it, but now everyone have a device, where they can be entertained in solitude.
As a result, people are now experiencing lonlyness, and if this trend continues, children and parents will lose their strong bond and society as a whole will be fragmented. This is because for the longest time, humans solved problems by communicating with one another and lending a helping hand to those who need it. Therefore, if this integral aspect of our existance is attacked, will have a hard time making decisions, collaborating, and overall moving forward in life.
In conclusion, I contend the decrease in our shared experiences is the root cause of families not having a meal together, and this is spreding antisocial behaviour, with can put our ability to work and help each other in danger.
