In contemporary milieu, the family gatherings to eat together are observed fewer than before. This essay will first discuss why is this happening and then which detrimental impact it has on the families and society.
On the one hand, the primary cause of this is the busy schedule of the most individuals. As children grow, they step into the professional life or academia, and therefore have less time to dedicate to the family and eat together. Thus, it is most likely that individuals will have meals spontaneously during a day and come back home without feeling any hunger or when everybody already had a supper. For instance, the survey carried out by the fellows of the Russian NGO on social problems has showed that more than half of participants do not have time to have a supper together with their family members because of their daily workload.
On the other hand, it leaves the severe footprints on the community. As there are few opportunities to gather together to have a joint dinner or supper, family bonds are becoming more sensitive. Consequently, rising numbers of the misunderstanding cases or scandals are experienced by more families. In its turn, this affect the mental health of children and may even destroy families. For example, as statistics show, the number of divorced couples among those who do not have enough time to dedicate to each other is rising day by day. Additionally, as children witnessed this negative development, they most probably will prefer not having a family in the future, that affects the society demographically.
In conclusion, lack of time to spend it by eating together with families is the main cause of this activity disappearing. The effects are weakening and ruining family ties which is echoed both on family and society.
