Band 5+: In many countries today, parents are able to choose to send their children to single-sex schools or co-educational schools. Some people think that children going to single-sex schools have disadvantages later In lite. To what extent do you agree?

The schools have been an integral part of the education system and are responsible for the character development of children. Many countries around the world are known to have allowed parents to pick between single gender schools or mixed gender schools. Although both type of schools do have the positive and negative consequences but I agree that mixed gender schools have more impact on the lives of the children than the single-gender schools.

The co-educational schools gives an opportunity to build confidence thus proving a platform to interact with opposite genders. As children interacts with different people on every day basis helps them to normalize the differences, learning to build connections and respecting the uniqueness everyone possesses. As the school provides equal platform for all children to perform and participate in the extra curriculum activities such as projects, annual functions, creating art, they learn to treat everyone equally.

The single gender schools are equally capable of creating positive environment, but they lack the experience of normalizing the communication with people. Also, if you considering the fact that learning the traits from childhood has better impact on the personality development of the children. For example, I have studied in the co-educational school setup thus the transition to university was easier as I was familiar with the environment.

To conclude, I agree that going to a gender specific school have negative consequences on the life of child in the future. The interactions with opposite genders can be overwhelming and they can lack confidence. Therefore, I would suggest to choose the mixed gender school in order prepare them for the adverse situations life throws at them.
