There is a phenomenon that individuals in several regions these days tend to live separately from their families and friends as a way to seek gainful employment. From my perspective, the drawbacks it brings somehow outweigh its benefits.
On the one hand, residents, especially those who live in small cities, are more likely to move to metropolitan areas usually because they are not satisfied with the jobs and living conditions where they live, so they choose urban cities for the better ones and consequently, they inevitably stay apart from their relatives. Moving to big cities brings numerous benefits for job seekers because many international and tech-giant businesses locate their headquarters there so they might have more job opportunities, better career prospects and high-salary jobs. Moreover, workplaces and working environments in metropolises may have higher quality than in small towns because of better infrastructure so workers can be supported and reach their high job performance.
On the other hand, there must be some trade-offs for job-seekers pursuing their career paths by moving out. First, this situation has happened for a long time; as a result, in order to have gainful employment, individuals have to compete with multiple job seekers around the nation so nothing can ensure their success in the future. The worst is that if they are not employed in any companies, their efforts are nothing and they might deal with the financial burden caused by the costly living expenses in urban areas. Additionally, they might feel lonely and isolated because of living alone in unfamiliar places which adversely affects their mental health.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that staying apart from families and friends to find jobs brings both pros and cons, but I believe that it brings more negative effects due to its uncertainty.
