Nowadays, with the growth of industrialization and modernization, living standards have improved dramatically, and human rights are receiving increased attention. However, there remains a controversial topic regarding food preferences: should we choose fast food or traditional food? Some people argue that an increasing number of individuals prefer fast food over traditional options, which could have negative consequences for both citizens and countries. Others contend that fast food brings a plethora of advantages to the world. In my opinion, the former perspective holds more truth.
First of all, aside from the health disadvantages, it is evident that junk food supports the economic and financial viability of countries. The availability of numerous job opportunities, particularly for unemployed individuals and teenagers, significantly decreases the unemployment rate. For example, popular fast-food chains such as KFC, Lotteria, Pizza Hut, and McDonald’s require a large workforce to maintain their operations, leading them to consistently hire new employees. Additionally, the public’s preference for junk food can result in health issues, such as obesity, creating more job opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Furthermore, fast food serves as the best option for those who have limited time for meals. In modern society, due to high workloads, workers often find it challenging to take breaks, making traditional food less feasible, as it typically requires more time for preparation. For instance, my older brother frequently orders fast food during his afternoon break. He states, ‘It is more efficient and saves time if I eat fast food.’
In conclusion, it is clear that this ongoing debate has generated several opposing viewpoints. From my perspective, due to social prejudices, people often focus on the disadvantages of fast food, which can lead to an underestimation of its advantages.
