In today’s modern world, people increasingly consume junk food instead of conventional cuisine. People hold different views about whether it is better to eat traditional food or fast food. While there are several benefits to eating fast food, I am of the opinion that traditional food is still the better option.
On the one hand, supporters of the view that junk food offers beneficial aspects often emphasize convenience. Initially, teenagers or office workers, who have hectic schedules at school or work, often choose junk food instead of spending time cooking. For example, a nine-to-five employee would certainly prioritize fast food like fried chicken over driving home and then spending an hour making a meal, which takes up a significant amount of necessary time. Moreover, international fast food chains offer meals with a consistent taste, making them attractive to young people. This is because fast food is also widely available and relatively affordable, which is most suitable for people with tight schedules and limited budgets.
On the other hand, traditional cuisines also offer a wide range of feasible advantages. Firstly, conventional foods are advantageous to long-term human well-being. Most local cuisines are made from fresh ingredients and less processed products, which is much healthier than junk food, reducing the risk of diseases such as obesity or even cancer. Secondly, the development of traditional foods also relates to economic growth. When people choose traditional cuisines frequently, the demand for the provision of local materials significantly rises, supporting agricultural products and local farmers. This can contribute to national revenue and the reputation of local dishes.
In conclusion, the consumption of traditional foods is being replaced by junk food. Although there are several benefits to fast food, such as convenience and affordability, I would suppose that it is much better for residents’ health and local revenues to consume conventional cuisine.
