People have different views about local dishes being replaced by international junk food. Although there are good arguments in favor of fast food, I personally believe that traditional food is a better choice.
On the one hand, international fast food sounds attractive for some reasons. First, it can help save time and money. More specifically, junk food doesn’t take much time for preparation and it can be served anywhere as on every street there are at least 2 or 3 food stalls selling fast food. For example, because of the short lunch break, instead of coming home and making lunch, international fast food would be a reasonable alternative for students and office workers. Moreover, its taste compared to traditional food is stranger for the local people, making it more and more popular.
On the other hand, the option for traditional food is far more beneficial. First of all, it symbolizes a country’s indentity. Each nation has their own culture linking to their cuisine, which makes it irreplaceable, attracting more tourists. For instance, visitors would be more desirable to travel to countries that are famous for their diverse cuisine such as Vietnam, Japan, China and so on. In addition, local food is a good choice for people’s health. Unlike junk food containing a large amount of saturated fat, traditional food is made for local people, so it is definitely better for health.
To sum up, while international fast food is convenient with low prices, I strongly believe that people should opt for traditional food due to some reasons stated above.
