In many different countries young people almost do not follow the news on TV or read newspapers. This problem could be the result of several reasons.
One of the main causes of this is that the youth do not find reading paper media or watching TV for news interesting. Instead of doing this they are prefer to watch gripping movies, play good computer games or hang out with friends. Another one source is the lack of understanding why the news are so important to their life. This fact leads to decrease in their ability to follow the recent and actual changes in the world, which might have an effect on them.
I hold the view that to solve the first problem governments should try to make the news more interesting for the young people. They could do it by, for instance, allow young people participate in producing, at least, some entertainment media in order to raise popularity of TV shows including the young people. The next solution that refers to the second cause is increase importance of the news for them. Although it might be very difficult, I tend to think that an insignificant change in educational system can alter the views on the news. This change means adding a new discipline in schools and universities or append a few more educational hours to the existing subjects. It might be, for example, talking classes where pupils make conversations about the news.
In conclusion, there are two main causes of such a small number of young people read newspapers or follow the news on TV. First, the youth do not find the news interesting, and the solution is to make the news more interesting for them by including into the process of making the news young people. Next reason is the lack of understanding why the news are important, that might be solved by small change in educational system.
