In the modern world, people have a lot of needs to consume. A lot of providers try to make franchises to dominate the market. It makes the survival of the local businesses almost impossible. Some people think that it makes the lives of consumers easier. Others claim that absence of competition diminishes the quality of products. I think that it is a very difficult topic and there are a lot of pros and cons of monopoly.
On the one hand, the known store everywhere will be safer than the unknown one. In a familiar place, you can feel free because you know all the prices and all the products. For example, I was on a vacation and I had needed the one particular drink. There were a lot of stores on a map, but I didn’t know them. But there was one chain store, card of which I had in my wallet. So I know that I’ll find it there and I feel calm about it.
On the other hand, the monopoly allows large stores to dictate their rules such as quality and price, because people choose their comfort and they are ready to pay more for something more familiar. For instance, there are plenty of investigations about products in chain stores, which dwindle wasting on products to increase the profit and raise the prices because of absence of big competitors.
In my opinion, the monopoly is a pure evil because you can’t control the owner of the market, so they can do whatever they want.
To sum up, I can say that large chain stores should be strictly regulated by independent organisations to save the competition on market.
