Several individuals think that schools have to focus heavily only on theoretical courses. On the other hand, others disagree, arguing that pupils should spend their time on practical abilities. Therefore this essay will discuss both perspectives and explain why pupils can benefit more from balancing both skills.
Academic courses are mandatory subjects in schools to improve their understanding and prepare students’ future. Furthermore, some subjects, including Math, Sciences, and Language, should be learned by the students because the courses create foundational knowledge in explaining all basic and fundamental of academic skills. For example, math trains learners’ critical thinking and logical thinking skills through numbers. As a result, students will have a better understanding to adapt and create innovation when they already graduate from educational institutions.
However, practical skills also have similar proportions with academic courses to teach to pupils in schools. Learners should train their ability to apply the lesson that they have already learned in class. Despite having better academic knowledge, students have the possibility to struggle to adapt in their future careers. Therefore, applied skills should be adapted in the school environment by becoming one of mandatory programs for learners. Teachers can create internship programs as a place to apply their understanding in the workplace. Then, when learners have mastered academic skills as well as practical skills, they will be better prepared them for their future careers.
In conclusion, either theoretical knowledge courses and practical skills are necessary be taught in schools since both approaches are important to prepare students’ futures.
