Some people argue that schools should have more focus on practical skills, while others people have to say that traditional academic subjects are more significant. Although, practical skills are certainly useful for student’s future careers, but I think that both approaches should be balanced without just focusing on one approach.
On one hand, It is crucial for students to have practical skills, that will help them to excel in their professional lives. Practical knowledge is widely used in different trades such as finance management, programming, engineering, etc. Practical skills can make education more relevant for the students. For instance, if a student has the experience of managing a budget or finances that student can be good at financial management roles or marketing roles.
On other hand, few people believe that schools should be teaching traditional academic subjects more. Academic subjects such as literature, history, language, mathematics are very useful for students daily lives and serve an important role in their personal lives. For example, students having good mathematical skills can analyse data and can make crucial decisions in a wide range of professions.
In my opinion, neither approach should be more focused, because today’s job market and their needs are constantly changing, so schools have to make a balanced curriculum with strong academic foundation and also some practical skills. Practical skills can be taught through internships, workshops, and presentations.
In conclusion, practical skills can make students prepare for better employment whereas academic subjects provide strong foundation and broader knowledge. The combination of both will give students strongest preparation for their future careers and personal development.
