In this contemporary society, there still remains a controversial topic about whether women can join the army as men do. Some people argue that the army only needs males. Personally, I completely agree with this view because there are two main reasons.
The first thing is that the social roles are reversed. Obviously, women are known for their main tasks of being housewives, giving birth and raising children. These innate abilities of women are almost useless when joining the military. By way of illustration, my aunt is a housewife but she is still respected by everyone because she lives the role of a woman in society. From my aunt’s case, it can be seen that women will be respected when they play their roles properly. Furthermore, the children will easily become teenage delinquency if their mom does not demonstrate her main task. Clearly, the presence of a mother during a child’s development stage is very necessary and can even affect the child’s psychological health. For example, in the case of a classmate of mine, his mother worked far away and did not have much time to spend with him. As a result, he became a unruly student of the class.
Secondly it is not suitable for the soft gender in the military environment when a woman’s personality is taken into consideration. Truly, people often mention softness and gentleness when females are mentioned because women’s physical health cannot be equal to men’s. However, the military is known for people with good physical health, great stamina and ability to recover quickly after injury. When it comes to these things, people often think of the stronger sex rather than the weaker one. Therefore, joining the army is definitely a very difficult task for women.
To sum up, whether females should join the army or not largely depends on themselves but it seems to me that the phenomenon cause more drawbacks than benefits.
