Nowadays, modern society is experiencing unprecedented level of stress, which leads to major health consequences. This caused by constantly glued to our phones, our heads are filed with junk 24/7, a problem that requires immediate resolution by bringing your attention back to real world through outdoor activities without phones.
The primary reason for severe stress is distraction by the phone and constant scrolling. This is because of the fact that our brain are not desighed to handle the amount of information a smartphone provides. Every time when people pick up a phone, hidden biological processes are triggered within them, which trigger anxiety. For instance, a phone screen provides a quick and easy hit of the feel-good hormone either from short videos or memes. However, as soon as human put phone down, dopamine levels plummet below normal, and the brain begins to crave a new “fix”, causing a person to feel unreasonably irritable. Thus, the phone has gone from being a tool of help to a major source of mental exhaustion.
To solve this problem, people should include more physical activity in the fresh air in their lifestyle rather that sitting on gadgets. In other words, when people find a free minute to relax, they immediatly pick up their phone as a break from work, but it is better to try doing a couple of exercises, since that is when those very necessary ideas come to mind. For example, unlike fixating our gaze on anarrow phone screen, which the brain interprets as a danger signal and causes stress, during a walk it activates lateral spatial perception, subconsciously reassuring the nervous system of safety and automatically reducing cortisol levels. Ultimately, activities outside, sports, and communication bring back to own body and there is no anxiety.
In conclusion, the phone keeps us in virtual world where we are a consumer of other people’s content and emotions. Nevertheless, people have to leave their phones during a walk to refreshing thoughts.
