On the one hand, there are several reasons why the price of junk food has become cheaper. In some countries, many people with average socio-economic backgrounds prefer cheaper and more convenient food choices. Fast food factories and industrial zones, especially convenient markets like Winmart or Circle K, can reduce the price of fast food, making it affordable for low-income individuals. As a result, these stores boost their sales figures and attract more potential customers.
On the other hand, this phenomenon has some problematic implications that should receive more attention. Many junk foods, like burgers and fried chicken, contain a lot of grease, are high in fat, and are addictive. The reduced price of fast food enables customers to buy larger quantities, leading to increased consumption. Consequently, this raises the risk of life-threatening health conditions like obesity and cancer.
