On the one hand, some individuals advocate for asking personal information, sech as marital status or about hobbies, by employers from individuals who applying a job for various reasons. Firstly, to build a useful and suitable team work, it is better to have employees who are similar in tastes and traits. Therefore, knowing personal information is essencial for employers. For example, when employers have knowledge about their employees’ tastes, they can organise some appealing plan for them such as set a venue for sports or arts. Secondly, personal information helps employers to choose the best layout for their workplaces and make a comfortable situation for their employees. For instance, employer can paint workplace or choose furniture based on employees’ interests.
However, I believe that any question about private information from individuals when they apply a job by employers is the example of invasion of privacy. Employers have to choose their workforces based on work needs and their knowledge and they do not be curious about personal information. Envision a situation in which an employer ask for applicant about what football team is the best and he or she mention a team which the employer hate from. Moreover, some of these information may lead to workplace discrimination. For example, when an employer askes about marital status from a woman, if she answer that get married, the employer reject her because afraids about her pfagnant time and separates from job.
In conclusion, while some people claim that employers have right to ask personal information , such as hobbies or marital status, from individuals when they apply a job, I strongly believe that it is misconception.
