The debate on whether the number of new inventions has been increasing encompasses diverse viewpoints, revealing both advantages and drawbacks. This essay critically assesses these perspectives.
On the one hand, there are several arguments in favor of my stance. The most prominent one is that the more new things are being created regularly, the better the lifestyle and decreased mortality. For instance, inventions like mobile phones, television, air conditioners, heaters, and vehicles have made life easy. They have granted ease in a lot of things, such as traveling to distant places has become easily. In other words, we are living our lives in luxuries due to creation of these items, we can get worldwide communication and information with a simple click of a button.
However, critics may point out some arguments against the aforementioned view that people now are fully dependent on them. It’s hard to imagine, living a life without phones, Internet, technology, and electricity. If we lose any of these inventions, humans might not be able to function, and eventually go extinct. Furthermore, it is also affecting interpersonal relations. The invention of the Internet created distance between people and has made them more selfish.
In conclusion, while the viewpoint that the number of new inventions has been increasing in our technological present a complex array of advantages and disadvantages, my analysis leads me to firmly support the notion that the benefits substantially outweigh the drawbacks.
