It was noticed that during recent years the influence of trends, ads, and brand loyalty on buyers has increased rapidly. Some individuals think of it as something, that led to people being better informed of brand choice on the market, whereas the rest consider it an encouragement to waste money. I believe that while it does inform you of possible alternatives on the market, it does not provide a truthful description of the desired goods or services.
On the one hand advertisement presents the audience an opportunity to discover various brands and companies that may be better in terms of quality or price. The most vibrant example in my opinion is field of clothes. Many young people know about such brand as Nike and what it is famous for. They use unusual marketing strategy to advertise their shoes and sport wear. Such as celebrities, sport competitions etc. The main issue of ads is that you don’t actually know the real grade of the goods you’re buying, companies are not interested in showing customers the real picture.
On the other hand ads may be a cause of unnecessary spending for some people. Companies apply different ploys and tactics to trick you into buying their products. Jingles, gimmicks and other catchy features made by marketing team tempt you to make a purchase. Some cannot resist the urge and as a result hoard clothes, gadgets and other goods that were clearly not necessary.
My opinion on this situation is that persuasive advertisement is rather harmful than useful for society. Though it has it’s own advantages such as spreading brand recognition for companies that sometimes actually deserve your attention.
